Regarding Lost Items

For inquiries for items lost on trains/in stations:

  1. Please make any lost item inquiries with a nearby JR Hokkaido station. In this case, please state the date and time the item was lost and give us a description of the item that is as detailed as possible, stating any particular characteristics, etc.
  2. A station attendant will search the system for the described item. Based on the information provided, the station attendant will use the “Lost Article Management System” to determine whether the item in question has been found. *Additionally, please note that after an item has been found, it will take a certain amount of time for it to be registered in the system.
  3. If your lost item is found, staff will guide you in the necessary procedures for retrieving your item.
You will be required to retrieve your lost item at the station where it is being stored.

*The customer retrieving the lost item is responsible for bearing the costs for traveling to the station where the item is stored.

*Information received by the customer when searching for their lost item, retrieving their lost item, etc. will absolutely not be used for any other purposes.

Lost items being stored at JR Hokkaido will be transferred to the police station of that jurisdiction if unclaimed for a predetermined amount of time. (The amount of time items will be held at a station varies depending on the station where the item is being stored)
