How to Use JR Hokkaido
Information on Limited Express Trains (All Seats Reserved)
All seats are reserved on all JR Hokkaido’s limited express trains. There are no non-reserved seats.
- Ltd. Exp. Hokuto (Sapporo – Hakodate)
- Ltd. Exp. Suzuran (Sapporo – Noboribetsu – Higashi-Muroran)
- Ltd. Exp. Kamui / Lilac (Sapporo – Asahikawa)
- Ltd. Exp. Soya (Sapporo – Asahikawa – Wakkanai)
- Ltd. Exp. Sarobetsu (Asahikawa – Wakkanai)
- Ltd. Exp. Okhotsk (Sapporo – Asahikawa – Abashiri)
- Ltd. Exp. Ozora (Sapporo – Obihiro – Kushiro)
- Ltd. Exp. Tokachi (Sapporo – Obihiro)
- Furano Lavender Express (Sapporo – Takikawa – Furano)
Passengers with regular tickets
【Required tickets for boarding】
Basic fare ticket(※1) + Reserved seat limited express ticket
【If seats on your desired train are full】

Please purchase a “vacant seat only ticket” in addition to a basic fare ticket.(※1)

You may stand on the train except in the Green Car.

If there are vacant seats in the ordinary cars, you may use them temporarily. However, if a passenger with a reserved seat ticket comes, you will need to move to another seat.
Alternatively, you may use a reserved seat on the next train.
(※1) IC cards can be used as a basic fare ticket only when both the departure and arrival stations are within the same IC card area. Click here for details.

【Things to do before boarding】
Please make sure to receive a reserved seat ticket in advance.
You cannot assign seats on the train.
【If seats on your desired train are full】

You can take the train only with your rail pass (a reserved seat ticket not required).

You may stand on the train except in the Green Car.
