Kitaca Range

※IC cards must be used within the same area (e.g. Hakodate - Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, Sapporo - Asahikawa). You cannot use them for continuous travel between “Sapporo-Asahikawa area” and “Hakodate area”.

IC cards can be used only in “Sapporo-Asahikawa area” and “Hakodate area” in JR Hokkaido stations.

  • IC cards must be used within the same area (e.g. Hakodate - Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto, Sapporo - Asahikawa).
  • IC cards cannot be used for continuous travel between “Sapporo-Asahikawa area” and “Hakodate area”. (e.g. Hakodate - Sapporo, Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto - New Chitose Airport: fare adjustment NOT available by IC card) Please make sure to purchase a ticket before boarding
  • IC cards cannot be used for fare adjustment from stations that IC cards can be used (e.g. Hakodate, Sapporo, Asahikawa, etc.) to stations that IC cards cannot be used (e.g. Yoichi, Kutchan, Niseko, Biei, Furano, Noboribetsu, Toya, Tomamu, Obihiro, Kushiro, etc.). Please make sure to purchase a ticket before boarding.
  • Please purchase a limited express ticket/a reserved seat ticket separately in advance when taking a limited express train.
    e.g. Sapporo→Asahikawa (Ltd. Exp. Lilac/Kamui) One adult, one way
    You can pay for a basic fare ticket (2,860 yen) with an IC card. Please purchase a reserved seat limited express ticket (2,360 yen) separately. The total amount is 5,220 yen
  • It takes time to complete all the fare adjustment process!

You can use Kitaca nationwide.

You can use it at any nationwideicmarked railroad, bus, and so forth.

* You can only use the card up to a certain point. You cannot overlap areas and use it (excluding (direct mutual use segment) portion of Tokyo metropolitan Suica area, PASMO area, SUGOCA area and Hayakaken area)

*The rules of each business operator are applicable when using its operator.

*There are some business operators that may not use this card.

Regarding those who use the services in other company areas

The following are where you can use the services in other company areas.

  1. Entering and exiting of ticket gates.
  2. Getting on and off for other transportation including buses.
  3. Recharging at a ticket vending machine, deposit machine, or fare adjustment machine.
  4. Purchasing a ticket at a ticket vending machine.
  5. Fare adjustment
  6. Display or print of record at a ticket vending machine
  7. Shopping at an electronic money affiliated store.

*There are some business operators that do not handle services from (3) to (7).

*You cannot use service (7) in a PiTaPa area.

*Reissue registrations, reissues or refunds are not handled at another company.

*You can also use the green car Suica system (only the Tokyo metropolitan Suica area).

Regarding those who use other companies’ card in Kitaca area

You can use the following IC cards in the JR Hokkaido Kitaca area.

*Excluding a certain portion, other design cards as well as mobile Suica card can be used.
