Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido, hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) has established the following rules regarding the attitude and behaviors to be observed in the operation of its official social media accounts (hereinafter referred to as “the official accounts”).

Purpose of the Policy

The policy defines the attitude and behavior that should be observed in order for the Company to establish good communication with its customers through social media.

The Company’s Attitude toward Social Media Use

  • ・We will be aware of and responsible for the dissemination of information and responses in social media, and we will take care to avoid causing misunderstandings and offense.
  • ・We will strive to disseminate truthful and accurate information.
  • ・When transmitting information to the Internet, we will always be conscious of the fact that the information can be easily and instantly accessed by a large number of unspecified users.
  • ・We recognize that information transmitted by companies and organizations through social media affects users and society.
  • ・We understand that once information is made public, it cannot be completely removed.
  • ・We will not distribute content that contains personal or other private information.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

  • ・We will comply with all laws and regulations. In particular, we will not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, portrait rights, or other rights, and we will not allow breaches of honor by defamation.
  • ・When quoting articles or other content from third parties, we will clearly indicate the source and the quoted portion.

To Social Media Users

  • ・Due to the nature of social media, the information that is distributed does not necessarily represent the official views of the Company. Please refer to our website and news releases for official announcements and statements.
  • ・Information on the official accounts is current at the time of distribution, but is subject to change.

Compensation for Damages

Terms of Use

When using the official accounts, users shall not engage in any of the acts listed below.
In the event that a user’s posts include content that falls under any of the following items, the Company may, without giving prior notice to that user, delete the information and content posted by the user on the site, or may take any other necessary action.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  • ・These rules are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with the accounts shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Sapporo District Court as the court of first instance.
